Route Management

To assist both users and highway authorities LARA believe that there is common ground that can form the basis of sustainable route management.
We intend to populate this page with examples of good practice. There are, of course, some high profile examples where inclusive route management has been used effectively, but if you have examples of other schemes that have brought benefit, please let us know.
Please note our Voluntary Restrain scheme, whereby routes can be maintained in good order and users have confidence that future use is secure. Some have said that voluntary restraint does not work, but we find that these were local agreements with one user group. The LARA scheme encompases many more users and has been shown to be most effective in the past.
